Soya Husks are abundant and contain cellulose, they present a possible biofuel source. Being a byproduct of processing soybeans, they are economical and environmentally friendly.
Cleaning and dehulling the soybeans, solvent extraction or mechanical pressing are some of the steps involved in soy husk extraction. The leftover soybean meal is then dried and desolventized, ground into powder and pelletized. Then, these pellets are fed into processes that produce biofuels, including fermentation, pyrolysis or pelletizing, to produce biofuels like biodiesel, bioethanol or biogas.
Soya husk is used in many different industries. It is utilised as an organic fertiliser, soil amendment, source of high-protein animal feed, feedstock for the synthesis of biofuel and in a number of industrial processes including the manufacturing of biodegradable polymers and bio-based products.
The higher heating value (HHV) of Soya Husk ranges between 3900 kcal/kg.
The moisture level of Soya Husk ranges between 7% and 8%.
The ash content of Soya Husk is 8% to 12%. This low ash content contributes to cleaner combustion and less residue.
